La técnica japonesa de Shibori –subdisciplina de los Tintes Naturales– es de las cosas que más nos cautivan, tanto por la posibilidades creativas que ofrece, como por ese punto de factor sorpresa que siempre está presente. Para los que no conozcáis su funcionamiento, se trata de efectuar las denominadas reservas o bloqueos por medio de una serie de manejos tridimensionales de las telas (retorcer, atar, presionar, plegar, enrollar, pellizcar, envolver, coser, arrugar, plisar…) a fin de evitar que el tinte penetre en determinadas zonas e incida estratégicamente en otras, lo que nos permitirá crear diseños tanto abstractos como figurativos.

The art of fabrics design by means of the Japanese technique known as Shibori -subdiscipline of Natural Dyes- is one of the things that most captivate us, both because the creative possibilities that it offers, as well as by the surprise factor that characterizes it. It consist of making a series of strategic “reservations” (also known as blockages) through a series of three-dimensional handlings of the fabrics (twisting, pressing, folding, rolling, pinching, wrapping, sewing, creasing or pleating) so that we avoid that dye penetrates in certain areas while it affects other ones, thus allowing us to create both abstract and figurative designs.

Una vez dominadas las técnicas básicas (existen cientos de ellas e infinidad de variantes y subvariantes), lo bonito es experimentar y dejar volar tu creatividad, ya que es una forma de divertirse, innovar y obtener diseños únicos e irrepetibles con los que es fácil sentirse identificado, ya que cada proyecto –al menos para ti– es una verdadera obra de arte! Y si bien nos gusta nutrirnos de la Tradicón, también nos motiva la idea de generar diseños experimentales a fin de ampliar el abanico de posibilidades. Un universo de oportunidades creativas que van más allá de la simplificación y occidentalización de la técnica conocida como Tie Dye.

Once mastered the basic techniques (there are hundreds of them and countless variants), the nice thing is to experiment and let your creativity flow, as a way to enjoy, innovate and obtain unique and unrepeatable designs with which one can feel identified, insofar each project (at least for yoy) is a true piece of art! And despite we are lovers of the Tradition, we also like to explore new territories and generate experimental designs, as a way to expand the range of possibilities. An idea which lead us to a concept of Shibori, understood as a world of creative opportunities that goes beyond the Westernization and simplification of this technique known as Tie Dye.
